Gorkovsky automobile factory produced the army jeep GAZ-67B (general purpose vehicle) in the Great Patriotic War period; that car was the analog of American «Willis MB», which came in USSR in that period. «Ford» company based on «Willis» produced amphibian vehicle «Ford GPA»; that car also joined to the Red Army, and our industry did not produce the analogues of that car. Later, when the war was ended, the scientific institute NAMI started to project the home-grown amphibian vehicle on the basis of GAZ-67B in 1951. The car was named NAMI-011 or light floating vehicle. After getting through the official (state) tests in 1953, the amphibian vehicle was put on the assembly line in Gorkovsky automobile factory as GAZ-011. In 1953 the new army jeep GAZ-69 changed GAZ-67B, because there was not details for the outputting the amphibian vehicles. The new car GAZ-46 was worked out and was put on the assembly line immediately, and the outputting of GAZ-011 was rolled off the assembly line. Only 68 samples of that car were produced.
